Pedal Into the New Year: Join the Global Craze of Rapha Festive 500!

“500 Kilometres. Eight Days. December 24-31. A tradition like no other.”

So, you want to do something different this holiday season…something to get you off the couch and on your bike!  But, it’s cold, wet and dark outside…ugh!

Guess what?  

The cold, wet and darkness IS the reason for the Rapha Festive 500!   The 500 is a global event when cyclists put their warmest clothes on, break out the hand warmers and whatever else they need to ride 500 kilometers (310 miles) in eight days from December 24-31.  WOWZA!

So that’s roughly 39 miles a day; a healthy amount of mileage.  And if you’re doing it outside, Rapha has clubs globally to find other like minded folks who like to suffer.   

Who came up with this crazy idea?  Former Rapha designer, Graeme Raeburn, thought it would be a great idea, and thus it was born.  The ride became a global instant hit!  The point is not whether you complete the journey, but that you start!

For those who would rather stay indoors, Strava has made the Festive 500 accessible on their platform, so get it done!  What an incredible way to end one year and start the next.  Like a boss!
