Staying Consistent!
You want to be that person who does the thing they set out to do… every day.
But then your kid gets sick or you have meetings late into the night, or whatever life throws at you.
How do you stay consistent then?
Let’s first define what we mean by consistent.
When we think about being consistent in our training program, what we mean is you do something every day. Maybe it’s riding your bike as planned; or maybe it's doing a strength workout instead of a ride as planned. Life often doesn’t allow you to do what’s planned for that day.
The important thing is to think about how you can shift. Does that mean you swap a workout day with a recovery day so you can still get your workout done? Or maybe there is no way to do a swap, and you do whatever is available to you to get your heart rate up, like a body strength workout in your hotel room.
You get the idea; life will get in the way of your training program, and you have the power to make a shift to accommodate it. To stay consistent means you are flexible and keep your training program a priority.
The idea is not to do it perfectly... but to do what you can every day.
We have two rules at AXN Fitness and Coaching to help you stay consistent:
1) Don’t miss two days in a row;
2) If you’re feeling crummy and this doesn’t change after 20 minutes into your workout, stop.
Listen to your body! Listening to your body goes a very long way in staying consistent.
You may be missing a workout, but this will help to keep you from getting injured or sick.
